The weather is getting better

This is my bike. Best bike I've ever ridden.

This is my bike. Best bike I’ve ever ridden.

The weather was nice enough Friday when I went for a walk. It was better Saturday when the boss went with me. Because she was with me and we were talking, I couldn’t, or at least didn’t want to, count my steps, so we parked at a good stopping spot and walked to another good spot, turned around and walked back. That was almost a shade over 2.5 miles, almost an hour. I paid for it the rest of the day.

Because the weather was so nice Saturday, we rode Sunday. It wasn’t quite as nice as Saturday’s weather, neither as warm nor as sunny, but nice enough for a ride. Riding on the road felt wonderful after a winter on my old bike, which is on a training rack on the back porch, alternating with days walking when time and weather permitted.

We rode 12.1 miles in 78 minutes. The ride north was terrific. The return trip was into a fierce, blustery wind. It was cold. I was weary. I’ve got some serious practicing to do if I’m going to do 400 miles in eight days along the Erie Canal this summer.

1300 paces - Looking south

I walked 1200 paces north along the trail, turned and walked back 100 paces and took this picture. This is just over 2 miles from the northern terminus of the trail.

I walk or ride the Lycoming Creek Hike & Bike Trail nearly every day, time and weather permitting.

500 paces - Looking north

I shot this photo looking north, about 2.5 miles south of the northern terminus of the trail.

The temperature was 38 degrees f yesterday afternoon when I went for my walk. I drove about two miles north of the house and jumped on the trail.

The first photo is looking north, about 500 paces north of where I parked. The second photo is looking south. I had turned around and walked 100 paces when I took the picture.

The air was cold and damp. We got neither rain nor snow, but the whole day was threatening.

I thought MapMyRide was going to post these for me. Either it doesn’t provide that function or I don’t know how to use it yet.
