The weather was nice enough Friday when I went for a walk. It was better Saturday when the boss went with me. Because she was with me and we were talking, I couldn’t, or at least didn’t want to, count my steps, so we parked at a good stopping spot and walked to another good spot, turned around and walked back. That was almost a shade over 2.5 miles, almost an hour. I paid for it the rest of the day.
Because the weather was so nice Saturday, we rode Sunday. It wasn’t quite as nice as Saturday’s weather, neither as warm nor as sunny, but nice enough for a ride. Riding on the road felt wonderful after a winter on my old bike, which is on a training rack on the back porch, alternating with days walking when time and weather permitted.
We rode 12.1 miles in 78 minutes. The ride north was terrific. The return trip was into a fierce, blustery wind. It was cold. I was weary. I’ve got some serious practicing to do if I’m going to do 400 miles in eight days along the Erie Canal this summer.
